Walk A Few Steps To Healthy Living By Using A Treadmill!

Walk A Few Steps To Healthy Living By Using A Treadmill!

by Harvey Warner

We walk, therefore we are - there is no motion more natural than a human being walking. For years, this simple act has been believed to help improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress and burn calories at the same time. Thanks to the treadmill, an individual can walk around in the comfort and privacy of home, as we have to concede that walking outdoors is not always possible due to a number of variables.

There are two main classifications of treadmills that can be permutated or varied in a number of different designs. Naturally, the individual would be in control of operating the manual treadmill, the first primary type. There is no way to program these machines, hence the necessity for an individual to power the machine and choose his/her own desired speed. An electronic treadmill can be considered such, of course, if it is powered by a computer and subsequently programmed by the person using it. With varying speeds and positions, electric treadmills can be designed to provide a slow or brisk walk at a flat or sloped angle.

A recent study divided individuals into two different groups, one of which participated in 30 minutes of exercising on treadmills while the other group spent 30 minutes resting. The professionals involved in the study closely monitored both groups carefully, and after analyzing the data, concluded that both groups had minimized feelings of stress, anxiety and negativity. However, for the group of individuals who exercised thirty minutes on the treadmills permitted that they felt a puissant increase in self-esteem. Hence, walking is apparently not only a boon to an individual's physical well-being, but also to said individual's mental health and overall feeling of contentment and satisfaction in life.

The above study not only added cachet to the widely circulated rubric that walking is a guaranteed way for a person to get fit, but also offered proof positive that one does not necessarily need to walk outside to enjoy a positive and fulfilling walking experience. Being that treadmills are, in all essence, a tool used by individuals to stay fit while indoors, this was the reason why they were the primary subject in the study. For example, if somebody wants to get some exercise but cannot do so due to the normally harrowing winter conditions, he or she can use a treadmill and remain safe while still achieving the ultimate goal of physical fitness. Most health care professionals agree that walking is the most convenient exercise in the history of mankind, and agree that it can win the long-running wars against stress, obesity and heart ailments.
