Your dietary intake has a great impact on many things beyond weight - it can actually be affecting whether you have eczema or not. Improper diets can lead to more effective response to treatment, and possibly prevention. If you need eczema relief and would like treatment to be relatively quick, then changing your diet needs to be a strong consideration. Here's a list of what not to eat during treatment.
What you eat regularly will either make your situation better or worse. Though not all of these foods will affect everyone the same way, certain foods tend to show more consistently the same patterns in many people and are worth a second glimpse. Take note as you eat and its relation to your eczema flare ups.
Not surprisingly, some foods that are known to be triggers include dairy products such as cow's milk and eggs, shellfish, lemons, strawberries, corn, oranges and tomatoes. The presence of the citrus fruits and vegetables may surprise you, as these are normally high in the "food pyramid," but have been shown to cause eczema flare-ups in many people.
Your response to these foods may not be the same as the typical case, and you may be the type of person who has a delayed onset of symptoms with your food. Then again, you may also discover you have a greater sensitivity to foods and will present symptoms immediately. It's important to note what foods do affect you so you can plan accordingly.
Eczema presents a variety of symptoms. Some may include an inflammation of the skin (red, swollen), itchy eyes and sneezing, possibly abdominal pain, even diarrhea and emesis. Keeping a food journal is a great idea to remember what you ate in relation to your eczema eruption.
There are foods that can harm, but also foods that can eradicate your eczema. Some research has shown that flax seed oil will actually help alleviate symptoms, about a tablespoon a day. Of course you can also take the powder form of the oil and spread it on your food, or use the whole flax seed.
Taking different dietary supplements, such as healing herbs, will also increase your body's ability to stave off eczema symptoms. Zinc is one such nutrient, as it helps with immune response. Any supplements that are targeted to increase immune response will really help in the fight against eczema.
Getting control of your eczema will teach you to get control over your diet and other triggers. You will discover that doing so will expedite eczema relief and just may put an end to your suffering.
